EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
When a difficult event happens, the brain sometimes cannot fully process that event as it normally does and it gets “stuck” in our mind and nervous system. When this happens, we can feel easily triggered by new experiences that remind us of that trauma. Beliefs like “I’m not valuable. I’m not loved. I’m not safe” can pop into our minds when we least expect it. EMDR therapy helps to activate the brains natural ability to process difficult memories. Through the process, people find surprising results. I have found that EMDR is a relatively fast and effective therapy for trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
